The road to the Mt Aspiring National Park is a stunning hour’s drive featuring Lake Wanaka on one side and the mountains of the Southern Alps on the other.
The road has a gravel surface and some small river crossings so always check weather conditions beforehand and keep your speed down.
Rob Roy Glacier, one of New Zealand’s most popular half-day walks, is a great warm-up for more serious hikes including; Liverpool Bivy, French Ridge and Cascade Saddle. But remember to sign in using the New Zealand Outdoors Intentions process and the check weather conditions.
